Well it's been a while

It's been a while since I posted on this blog, I've been rather busy recently.

I realised that yes, Excel tips and Excel consulting is a good place where I want to be - it's what I'm good at and helping other people get better at it would be ideal.

However, Excel is one specialism and out in the world there is a LOT of different areas of expertise where I know I'm not the best in the world. A lot of people will have a lot more knowledge than I have, so I've set up a website to allow people to gather and share their knowledge on what they are good at. Hopefully we can all learn from each other and not be the worst at whatever we chose to concentrate on.

The website is www.101tips.biz so please pop in and say hello. EXCEL-lence is by no means dead, we are working on improving the site following the lessons learned in setting up 101tips.biz.

Our ebooks will be available on 101tips and we hope our product base will continue to grow in the futue.

EXCEL-lence is back - watch this space!!!

Wow 5,000 flyers - that's a HECK of a lot...

I forgot to mention the absolute enormous box that arrived with my A6 (yes, A6) flyers in it....  5,000 sure is a LOT when you see them in reality... I've never had 5,000 of ANYTHING before, until now....

It's time I started to think of places to distribute them, however more work on the website is needed before that step (they arrived quite promptly - I'll be using creativeprinter.co.uk again in the future - although frustrating for someone like me to understand "bleed" they helped out and the flyers look pretty darn good....

I even gave out my first flyer today too - treasure it - it might be worth more than the business card because, they're pretty cool :D

Another day, another blog

Well another day has gone by...   I'm STILL battling with the email system on my forum, trying to get it to work.

I will shortly start to put up some help topics on the forum once I get it working for emails...

I've also been experimenting with other forum types apart from myBB - I have tried a SMF (Simple Machines Forum) on my website, and it's loaded up OK - but without any icons - how very very VERY frustrating - the issue I have is, I like the look of my existing forum - it looks sweet, and I'm used to the modifications needed now in the myBB admin CP..  just the flipping email WILL NOT WORK argghhhhh

So very very annoying... :)

Anyway - onto my day, I had a productive day today, worked on Google+ - visit me (if you can find me) and pestered some more tech help people...

I decided to take a bit of a break from development tonight, so went out for a walk in the sunset - it was cloudy though, so didn't really see much... 3 squirrels fighting on a tree was pretty cool :)

I gave out my first business card today (Hi Mike) - treasure it - it might be worth a fortune someday

22 September 2011

Well I'm back again, another day, another dollar (or so to speak)...

The business cards and the flyers are now in my possession - if you're interested in seeing one - drop me an email at info@excel-lence.info

It would be nice to know someone out there cares and is reading this, or am I in a forest - cutting down trees that do not make a sound because no one is around to hear it (but me)...

I've been looking around at different HTML editors in my quest to become better at this language, and carrying on with a couple of projects to keep me busy...

There have been plenty of battles with Excel over the many years it has been used by me, and I shall aim to use all the battle scars to help anyone else who is about to go into battle..

21 September 2011

As the end of September draws closer, Excel-lence has made further steps with the website and the forums.

The first post in the Excel section is now live,  the quest for new members begins.

The battle with the emailing from the forum continues, and the webhosting tech support team cannot seem to fix the problem, it's getting more than a mere frustration now...

The EXCEL-lence business cards arrived today, they look pretty cool :) and the flyers are close to being posted for delivery.

It's fast moving, exciting times in the world of EXCEL-lence.

There are other ideas that are being worked on by the EXCEL-lence team, to hopefully generate some capital to help with the driving forwards of the EXCEL-lence business model.

As always, keep your ear to the ground, and follow my blog, visit the website and sign up to the forum. It should all be working quite nicely one day soon.. :) the key to a good forum is a lot of good quality members, so please feel free to pop in and register and start posting questions

20 September 2011

Only a short update for the past couple of days.

Work has begun on the ebooks section of the website and a couple of ebooks are under creation.

I'm hoping to self publish these on the kindle store, which is now available to have on your iphone, ipad, blackberry etc here

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=kcp_ipad_mkt_lnd?docId=1000493771

It's exciting to know how easy it is to start publishing my own material so watch this space...

The remainder of the social network was watched tonight - could I really get even close to 500 million visitors, let alone frequent members - totally insane!!!

Come on google rank me higher, help me get traffic to my site by visiting me

http://www.excel-lence.info/

Or hit the forum, I will try and tone down the number of direct links now and start adding some interesting content :) watch this space....

18 September 2011

Well another day goes by, I continue to tinker away on my Excel forums, hoping to get more members and have people register and start to help my forum grow

http://www.excel-lence.info/forum/index.php

I added a couple of new forums today, and continued to get frustrated with the difficulties in getting the forum to send emails out... for some reason it says "email sent" however I do not receive any emails at the other end... hmmmm very frustrating, I blame php().

Today has been a good day for EXCEL-lence, the social network was partly watched and hopefully, one day I might be something like that..  could I rival facebook - I doubt it very much....

So what's next for the website, I'll continue to plug away, and write more e-learning tutorials, figure out why my own version of Excel is complaining and telling me I've installed it too many times (pesky laptop)...

Then I'll look at beginning my first ebook - wow... I'm going to be an author... exciting times :) but hey, I'm no longer studying so should be a good way to spend my time :)
